Thomas Manuel Castilho was a volunteer in the "Hong Kong Volunteers Defense Corps" in Hong Kong.

He was born in Hong Kong and was the son of Portuguese parents.

During the Japanese conquest of Hong Kong, he was captured and held captive until the end of the war.
